Wondering the best way to tell me happy Valentines day? Buy this and send it to me. Also in a seperate box send a couple of those Resses peanut butter hearts. I think there’s a between a 6 and 24 tests of all the first year of Dischord 7″s. Quad digits on this one or I’ll eat my hat. My favorite HC 7″ ever pretty much.

  1. There’s a discussion on Livewire whether this is legit. What do you think?

  2. posted my thoughts there. of course it’s real. of all the things to counterfeit it would be quite difficult. all you’d need to do is check the matrix etching. regular fillers dont have large center holes. i’ve seen at least one of these tests in person and known of a few other people owning them. they’re not THAT rare. i mean they’re valuable but not unheard of. further more there’d be dozens of things that could be counterfeited much easier and passed off as originals much easier. the people on the LWB are trying to scare off bidders so that it will go for cheaper (which it won’t because there’s going to be tons of other people who don’t look at it that will bid). i would be shocked if it was actually counterfeit.

  3. Prepare to be shocked. This is a bootleg. I am 100% certain that this seller” maxhearse” is the same individual (or working with a person) that I purchased a counterfeit Misfits Static Age Test press, and a Misfits Teenagers from Mars acetate from. My seller was based out of Italy, although he has active addresses in New York and Florida. I also believe that the person I dealt with was also in some way involved with a record company called No Tyme Records based out of Italy. The Static Age Test was won on ebay, and I was sent a list of other Misfits rarities “that I may also be interested in.” The records on this list contain the same items that this seller “maxhearse” sent to a friend of mine when he inquired about the Filler test press. This is the reason why I believe this to be the same individual.

Not getting into too much detail, the Static Age I won had the labels bubbling up by the time I received it and was an obvious paste over job on a regular press. The acetate was cut differently and had glaring differences when compared side by side to a known original. For the static age he probably used a photograph from a previous recent auction, and the teenagers photos from a popular Misfits collector website.

Compare the auction photo to the photo on collectorscum.com and you will see differences. One obvious one is the typewriter font, compare the “e” letters. What are the odds that there were different typewriters used to make these few sleeves….very doubtful. Regarding the clear sleeve, this is probably just a copy from an original sleeve as opposed to a direct print from the original paste-up artwork. You can see a lack of grey shading on the one he is selling.

After a month long battle, I was fortunate enough to get all my money back thanks to American Express. Provenance is key with any rare and limited items like this, as many just went to friends of the band. If the seller can’t prove the lineage, I would also avoid at all costs. I just don’t want anyone to get burned.

  4. I’m sure the record in the photo is legit but there’s some question as to whether or not the seller is legit.

  5. You called it, $1,125.
